Canada vs Honduras Live Blog

Greetings all,
I thank my U.S. blog mates who have a wonderful tool used for blogging soccer games. Since I love neat tools to use, well I’m bringing it for us Canucks tonight, and hopefully this will bring us some good luck ahead of the game versus Honduras tonight. The live blog will launch itself tonight at 9 PM. Feel free to add your comment and or just listen in to how the game is going. Since as per the norm only a certain section of the country gets to watch the game live. Ah to be in the country of hockey, and somehow baseball.

First off, I’d like to say congrats to Honduras, they deserved it. Secondly, we were missing 4 regulars plus Brennan (who somehow isn’t a regular), so what do you want?! Thirdly, Dale Mtchell needs to go. His limiting Brennan’s playing time, time and again, has inevitably lead to Jimmy never wanting to play under Mitchell again, and I can’t say I blame him. You don’t call up a player of Brennan’s caliber, and not use him, and this hasn’t happened just once. Remember the game vs Honduras in Montreal, well to be at that game, Brennan missed a crucial game vs Chivas in the MLS, when Toronto could really have used him as they were only able to string together 14 players. Anyway back to the game, Hutchinson is ok, although I would have liked to have seen him be substituted instead of Gerba. After all, we needed goals, and although Gerba wasn’t great in the game, perhaps with Hume and Friend, he could have done something. Which brings me to my next question, why did Friend start on the bench? Another puzzling move by Mitchell. In my mind, even though Hainault scored, and let’s be honest, it was nothing special, he allowed to the ball to get rolling for Honduras. I know he’s young, but the way he over commited on the first goal, was something that should never be seen in a WC qualifier. Again, I don’t understand why Hasting didn’t start, and Hainault did, especially when Hasting has played in most, if not all of the WC qualifiers this year. On a final note, it’s sad to know that Radz will never, and DeRo, Brennan, and Stalteri, will most likely never play in a World Cup. It’s all very dissapointing, especially with the kind of players we could have sent to World’s best soccer tournament. Say what you want about Hart, but I think he was a hundred times better than Mitchell.

Mexico vs Canada 15/10/08 in Edmonton

That’s it, I’ve had it with CONCACAF. Can we join another region, because this is getting ridiculous. How does De Jong get elbowed in the face, stretchered off, and substituted, and then have the call go against him? Could someone please explain this one to me? And on top of that, Perez just had to flop around like he’d just been shot, didn’t he. No way could he have considered himself lucky to not be booked for elbowing, and by the same token, realise that the ref awarded him a bogus free kick. I guess they really do all stick together in Central America, plus Mexico, seeing that the ref is from Suriname. If only we had one fairly called match, without the theatrics, we could beat these clowns from Mexico, or anybody else for that matter. Anyway, one thing is for sure, they definitely have an abundance of good actors coming out of the south. On another note, the turnout for the game is embarassing, and Canada have a pretty watered down starting eleven. However, despite all of this, Canada is still leading Los Burritos 2-1, stick that in your pipe and smoke it. The goals, courtesy of Tomasz Radzinski, and Ali Gerba. Also, praises go out to Hirschy for a brilliant save on Dos Santos (57′ minutes).
