Canadian Men’s National Team Roster
Well with qualifying not beginning until 2008 for the World Cup in 2010, I figured it would be beneficial to see who exactly the current starting line up is at the moment and their recent form or where exactly they are playing their club soccer, as no friendlies are being played this month.
Just want to foremention it ahead of time… the CanadaSoccer.com website may be the most frustrating national soccer website to ever navigate, trying to find out stats from them is like pulling teeth out of a lion who is not sedated.
Goalkeeper:
Hirschfeld, Lars: Currently he plays for Rosenborg B.K. in the Norwegian Premier League. Was in goal during the 1-1 tie with Chelsea on match day 1 and the 2-0 loss to Schalke 04.
Defense:
Imhof, Daniel: Currently playing for VfL Bochum of the German Bundesliga, is being used sparingly so far this season with 1 game start and 4 subbed in, has 1 goal though in those 5 games played.
Jazic, Ante: Currently playing in Beckham mania, or the Los Angeles Galaxy, has been used sparingly in the last couple of years for the Galaxy with no goals to his name and only 17 appearances.
Serioux, Adrian: Currently playing for FC Dallas after being traded from Toronto FC to them earlier on this year. Has only made 8 appearances for them this year.
Hainault, Andre: Is Currently playing for FK SIAD Most of the Czechia Gambrinus Liga
Midfielders:
De Guzman, Julian M: Playing currently for Deportivo La Coruña of the Spanish Primera Division. He was the first Canadian player to sign in the Spanish Premera Division.
Stalteri, Paul: Playing currently for Tottenham of the EPL, and used whenever Martin Jol let’s him play has only played in 2 EPL games so far this year, more of a surprise addition when he came to Tottenham but seems to have found a place to play to keep his appetite wet.
Brennan, Jim D/M: Currently back at home in his rightful place as captain of Toronto FC. Has played 27 games this season for them and even managed a goal in his defensive role for the team.
Bernier, Patrice M: Is currently playing for FC Kaiserslautern in the German Bundesliga 2.
Forwards:
Radzinski, Tomasz M/F: Is currently playing for Skoda Xanthi in the Greek Super League after being let go by Fulham in the EPL
Friend, Rob F: He currently plays for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the German 2 Fussball-Bundesliga. Currently has made 6 appearances for them with 2 goals
Anyways there you have it, that’s where all the players are at the moment. Most are overseas which complicates things when friendlies are attempted to be played as it’s hard to get them to come back and play, and difficult for the team to gel together in the limited amount of time they have, but then again the experience they are gaining in Europe is no comparison to the limited experience they would get playing in Canada.
Take off you hosers (Yes I like my Canadian slang)
