First you must win this … before you go to the bigger prize
Well first off I would like to welcome Sam to the “eh” blog team.. this means now I have to write more often, I guess I’ll get a good whipping from Newfoundland to British Colombia when I don’t post enough.
Since Sam covered the positive aspects of Canada I’ve resorted to now looking at the negative side, or to be honest the round of qualification we have to get too before we get to that actual tough round robin where Mexico lies await.
To do so we have to beat St. Vincent and Grenadines, the currently 11th ranked CONCACAF team and ranked 101 overall in the FIFA rankings. Now the qualifications don’t happen until June, that would be the 14th and 21st of the month to be exact, and I can’t even tell you where the game in Canada will be played, I figure they should just play it in Alert(Northern Canada, it’s cold even in the summer) and see how St. Vincent and Grenadines deal with cold weather and ice. In the end I hope that CSA picks a suitable location and gets a large Canadian crowd together to watch the game, please pick Toronto and not Calgary or Edmonton(they can never fill the stadium) at least in Toronto they will fill the BMO stadium. I would suggest Ottawa but that stadium has been condemned since the youth world championships.
So the big question is how much of a threat is St. Vincent and Grenadines at upsetting Canada, they have never played each other before. I figure it’s a big threat, maybe this is just me being pessimistic of Dale Mitchell as the head coach of Canada. I personally would love a Dutch coach to take over for a while, someone who has had enough experience being taught how to coach in the system. But then that just may be me sore that Dale couldn’t get us any wins during the youth championships.
So I ask all you Canadian supporters out there, what do you think of the chances of us beating St.Vincent/Grenadines and how would you coach the Canadian national team.

Well, first of all I’m pretty confident in our chances against St. Vincent/Grenadines. I think we have a good team and should perform better than in the qualifications for ‘06. That being said, I have this awful feeling that we will get all the way to 4th place in our zone and then lose to the South American team in the playoff for the0.5 place

SVG are definitely one of the best Carribean contenders. But then again, I did my research and their team really isn’t that good. Oh well. Right now, I’m calling 3-0 at home and 2-1 over there, both for us of course.

Well if the game is in alert I will go for the 3-0 victory, if not Canada will somehow grind out a 1-0 results at home and then will attempt to pull the old tie for the away game… I’m just assuming that they will make me sweat, I can only hope I don’t work so I can live blog the game and put my actual thoughts as I watch it. I figure that’s the best way to judge my feelings on the game.
